Essential Oil Insect Repellent

Summer is upon us!  That also means bugs are up on us…literally!  yuck.  To keep mosquitoes, ticks and other unwanted biting critters off of you and your family, try a safe, DIY recipe using essential oils:

In a 40z, dark, glass bottle combine:mosquito

2 oz apple cider vinegar or witch hazel
2 oz water

OR

2 oz of a liquid carrier oil like coconut, jojoba or sweet almond oil

then add 30-40 drops of essential oils of your choice:

Geranium, Cedarwood (great for repelling ticks!), Peppermint, Lavendar, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Melaleuca, Eucalyptus, Cedar, and Cintronella are all great.

Shake before each use.   If this mixture is too strongly scented for you, try using a larger bottle and adding more water OR add less oil.  Just know that the repellent qualities may not be as effective.

Aticklso, if you get yourself a bottle of  doTerra TerraShield Repellent Blend, you can use simply add that to a small water bottle to use by itself. 🙂

There is an abundance of bug repellent recipes online for humans and pets – search around and find one that fits your needs!
